Unrecognizable

Ready to start this New Year? It's officially 2017 and I can hardly believe it!

Rather than making any New Years Resolutions this year, I’m going to try something different. Inspired by many of my virtual mentors, coaches and various thought leaders in the self-development space, I’ve decided that in 2017, I’m going to choose a single word, a sort of one word theme for what I want this next year to embody.

When it comes to this word (it could also be a short phrase), there really are no rules; it simply sums up what you want to focus on for the New Year. It is a word that will represent what you want 2017 to be about and personally, I think it offers so much more flexibility and expansion than setting a specific goal (like losing 20lbs, for example).  This word acts as a motivator and a guiding light for how you want to show up in the world.

So, without further adieu, in 2017, I choose as my guiding theme, my word of the year…

UNRECOGNIZABLE.

If someone or something is unrecognizable, they have become impossible to recognize or identify, for example because they have been greatly changed.

On December 31, 2017, I want my life to be unrecognizable (in the BEST possible way of course). So much has been bubbling to the surface over the last several months and momentum is building and I’ve decided that the time is now to make some deliberates moves to uplevel every area of my life.

UNRECOGNIZABLE speaks to a few different things that I want.

·       I want my body, level of fitness and overall physique to be unrecognizable

·       I want the depth and quality of my relationships to be unrecognizable

·       I want the choices I make, and the results those choices generate, to be unrecognizable

·       I want my level of personal contentment and emotional wellbeing to be unrecognizable

It really is a multipurpose word that hits a number of important aspects of my life.

In fact, I LOVE what Christine Kane says about this:

“…choosing a word for the year is so compelling because it takes the “should” out of our own upleveling. Our word calls us out, rather than driving us to work harder.”

Yesssssssssss.

And now I have a powerful guiding principle as I move forward with the next 12 months that will help me decide how I’m going to allocate my time and focus in 2017.

I know it’s not going to be easy - nothing worthwhile ever is. But changing your life for the better is about picking a destination and taking one step at a time to get there, and I’m in it for the long haul. I’m looking forward to the journey and the experiences 2017 will bring.

LET’S DO THIS!

So, I’m dying to know: do you pick a theme for the year? And if so, what's your word going to be for 2017? I'd love to hear it! :)
